Winter tires for 2011 S5
My dealer has suggested I install 18" winter tires on my 2011 S5 which is running on 19" summer Dunlops. Anybody have experience with putting smaller winters on? They are cheaper but I'm concerned about the 18" rim fitting over the brakes or not being the correct offset. I thought of staying with 19's but in a higher profile. Thoughts or suggestions appreciated

as long as the overall rolling diameter is the same.. and of course properly spec'd wheels (offset, bore, etc) and the required clearance. Tirerack has a tire size selector that will let you know what sizes work.
S4 and S5 come in 18" wheels with the 19" as option, so you could downsize to the normal spec. I don't think the 19" package comes with larger brakes than a "normal" S5

Defenetly go with the 18"! You will have more bump room and the ride wont be as rough in winter, as for the clerances they do make rims for your car that are 18" and clear it easily tirerack.com for example has rims and packages that will clear your calipers. I suggest getting some used 18" OEM ones from other members that are selling their set.
