n00b with MY02 C5 allroad
Hey guys and gals,
I've had my 02 allroad coming up on about 4 months and I love it. Previously I've owned all sorts of modified vehicles from 4x4s with engine swaps, 2wd S10 with an L98, 1980 AMX with a 403cu on LPG, and another notable one being my recently sold 1991 Talon AWD with leather, pearl clearcoat, suspension mods, and 420hp at the wheels on a Mustang dyno while passing emissions testing.
Since I had the Talon for 13 years, replacing it meant I needed a car I was going to be just as happy with. I spent a lot of time on teh interwebz and found I liked what I read about the allroad. Initially I was leaning toward an S4 but with a MKIV Jetta we wanted a bit more room for the poochy.
Having AWD, a turbo engine (I got the 2.7tt), and a touch of luxury, the allroad was a nice fit in our family.
It was upgraded slightly by the previous owner who felt a set of StopTech brakes wouldn't hurt this pig. Otherwise it's stock. The airbags have been replaced, tbelt and water pump done, and the transmission saw a completely new unit from Audi when it was owned by an Audi tech. With any luck that should be the major stuff.
Plans include a refresh on the bushings, good alignment, better tires than these Falkens, APR, and perhaps a rear bar. Just for kicks I may do a reverse 402 and shoot up some FSRs nearby to see if I can't get stuck on a rock somewhere.
Hoping to learn a lot about these cars and maybe help out a few guys with generic car wisdom I've learned over the years.
cheers gang
