Hey all, I'm considering a '99 ish A6 avant for my next car so I'm looking for advice on what to look for when shopping. Any advice? Most I've seen so far have the 2.8 V6 and auto trans. Are they typically good cars or should I run away screaming?

Welcome to the forum. Unless you have already found the car you might have some difficulty finding a good one. If your heart is set on an Avant check this one out that a member has for sale.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a couple locally that I'm planning to look at. What I've been wondering about is things more specific that might identify a bad A6 from a good one. Any common problems with the engines or transmissions? What about the AWD system? Is there anything that would tip me off that something is wrong?

PS: That listing you posted looks like a great car but it's well out of my travel radius and probably price range too.

The best way to find some serious answers is to read through some of the issues in the A6 section. Audi A6 - Audi Forum - Audi Forums for the A4, S4, TT, A3, A6 and more! I find the best way to find out common issues or any issues for that matter, is to go by other members experiences.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions in that section as well as the General Audi talk section.
