I slammed my MZ3 Zoom Zoom down a little too much so I need to put that away for the winter, so....

I just picked up a 1997 A6 Quattro Wagon. The car is in great shape (137,000 km), no rust, and a filthy interior. It has all the bells and whistles, winter package and Bose (but that's not working at the moment).

I suspect that I should do a few things to the car, such as:
  • change battery (weak)
  • change timing belt (precaution)
  • replace or free up parking brake

I'm assuming that the battery may have something to do with the Bose system not functioning, as the same thing happened to my Mazda.

The timing belt has probably never been changed, and I'm not sure what the recommended maintenance/replacement period is on this belt.

As for the parking brake, maybe it's just the pivot points, but I don't have a factory service manual yet to guide me (but I'll find one).

Oh, ya! ... and I need to find 10 of those tiny little lights that go in the third brake light. They didn't have them at CarQuest or CT.

BTW, my MTO users' package states that it is a 4 Door Sedan/Berline, but the car is definitely an A6 Quattro Wagon (Avant perhaps?). Can someone explain what the difference is? Also any recommendations to the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
