2001 TT 225hp in Oakville
Picked up our 2001 TT on Friday night, quite excited to have our first Audi. I've always been a fan of the brand, and the TT fit perfectly with what we were looking for at the moment.
Purchased the car from Marin Autohaus in Kitchener. Dani is the owner of the shop. He was very pleasant to work with, seems honest and was very helpful throughout the purchase. He even threw in a warranty after we had already negotiated the deal.
We were looking for a TT as we needed a car less than 163 inches in overall length in our garage, as she will sit nose to tail with our 2008 MINI Cooper and 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo. Not the most convenient arrangement, but it keeps them all dry and off the street. We also looked at a 2005 - 2006 Mini Cooper S, but while it was tremendously fun to drive, it would be a bit odd having 2 MINIs (like we were creating our own Italian Job) and its always fun having something different.
My big fear with the car is that I have heard a lot about Audi reliability issues. Compound that with the fact that this is a ten year old car, and I sometimes wonder whether I will ever make it to work, but on the plus side, the car has a new timing belt, brakes, bushings and ball joints. She seems to run very nicely at the moment. I also notice that in Europe, they speak of Audi as being the pinnacle of reliability, so I have my fingers crossed that this won't be too much of a headache. Still, she is replacing my 1999 Honda Civic as my daily driver, and that car never put a foot wrong in the 6 years I owned her, as have both of my Porsches.
One challenge I am finding is that there aren't a lot of parts suppliers out there. Places like Autopartsonlinecanada stock the general mechanical and electrical components, but compared to my experiences with Porsche, there isn't a lot with respect to online suppliers of OEM interior, exterior, and specialised pieces. ECSTuning has the Haldex maintenance kit I need, but where can I get a new shift **** or aerial?
