I've been looking and there's plenty of posts for the mk1 but i can't find much on the mk2. For the mk1 you needed to change bumpers and so on. Any help? Thanks in advance!
My money is on DRL's being the only thing.

I will be importing my 2008 3.2 on Monday so I can confirm but from what I've heard the only thing is the DRL. On that note, anyone know of a good audi mechanic in Vancouver? I'm going to jimmy rig the **** to enable DRL but I dont want to pay $300 when I do it properly and also change from miles to metric.

Canadian Tire does all the RIV work here in Southampton, Ont. There is a switch on the dash which simply turns on the DRL and I just turned it on. The the chap doing my form said great. That was all I had to do to the car. In Ontario you have some time to get the inspection done so there was no pressure.
I might add that the whole importing business was one of the easiest things that I have done in my life. Make sure that you give the American border people enough time with your fax.
Also buying my 08,3.2 silver roadster was one of the great things that I have done. I just love driving my car. Top down every month since I've owned it. 93million miles of headroom!
Enjoy your ride

So that was one of the most trouble free things I ever did. What a joke...saved almost 15k for half a day's worth of work. Dont bother with a broker, import the car yourself. I'd be happy to give you more information as i'm sure others on here would too.

Hey shoeguy,

I'm also in Ontario, and I'm looking to buy a 2008+ TT for my wife. So from what you're saying, you only need to turn on the DRL? which is a setting in the dash eh?
There're no other modifications required for the TT to be imported to Ontario?

Thanks for the help!

Oh one more question, have you guys dealt with Audi warranty in Canada with an imported vehicle? From my experience with BMW they practically kill you with a bunch of "mods" to make it warranty compatible. Sorry for all the questions, just started doing research on this. Thanks everyone.

Take a piece of black electrical tape and cover the DRL label if the switch and it should pass inspection by the Canadian tire lads. I still have it there today! 65000 Kms later. This is an 09 TT imported from Chicago

Actually, there is a better process than the black electrical tape. Takes 2 minutes and won't be questionned by a smart mechanic:
  1. Put the US DRL switch in the on position
  2. Pop out the head light switch
  3. remove the wire behind the DRL on/off switch
  4. Put the switch back in place
  5. pass the inspection at Canadian tire
  6. plug back the DRL on/off switch if you like after the inspection is complete

Very simple to remove the headlight switch.
  1. put the switch in the position 0
  2. push on the center of the switch. it should go in by 1/4 inch.
  3. while keeping the center pushed, turn 15 degrees CLOCKWISE
  4. while keeping the center pushed, Pull the switch out of its hole.

Very easy to do. No need to use force, just follow the instructions.
This trick should work on most VW and Audi as I have seen it done on a Jetta MK5, I did it on my B6 S4 and now just did it again for the DRL inspection on the TT.

The reason you have to do this for the Canadian Tire inspection is that no matter what programming change you do using VAG-com for the DRL function, the US DRL on/off switch will always give you the possibility to turn them off, whitch is illegal in Canada. This is why the canadian specs TT MK2 does not have this DRL switch next to the headlight switch.
