Default New to Audi... Thinking about a TT

Morning Audi-ers...

I've never owned Audi before (had a Bimmer for a few years) and i'm wondering what to expect for reliability on Audi. I've owned japanese cars for a long time and am used to the relative reliability of the models. I currently drive an 2010 Acura RDX which i like but eventually my lease will be up and i will switch. There are no models in Acura that are tempting at this point and looking around, the TT Roadster catches my eye. This would be a daily driver and would be driven in winter... info, suggestions, experience... all are welcome.

Yeah, don't bother to tell me that this is a vastly different ride... i think i already got that. I want to know about mechanical but specifically about electronics reliability in these models...

Time to sell me to the brand but as with everything, anyone giving 9 thumbs up on a model or make will not get the point across

Oh.. and you will forgive my brashness... and eventually will get used to it

Looking forward to read you guys...

Love the brand - on my 5th Audi since 2000 (1st two were leased and last 3 have been owned) although that excludes my spouses Q5 and A4 previously. Never had any major issues with any of them although never owned one past 100,000 kms. I've done lots of modding over the years from big turbo and supporting mods to an RS4 with only an aftermarket exhaust (best winter beater EVAR!) and always was well taken care of by the local dealership.

To the point ... quattro is awesome whether it be Torsen or Haldex and my TTS has been an excellent 4 season DD. BTW, I have a coupe since the ragtop has no where near the storage/ utility space.

Good luck choosing !

Thanks for the feedback. I do tend to keep cars more than 100000KM but since i will likely lease my 1st Audi, i will likely be limited to under that.

I'm seriously thinking about the TT and i would like the convertible... but like you said, there is absolutely no room for anything once the top is down. But i have to admit that i am torn between the two.

I was wondering f the model will change in the near future... the MK2 model has been out for a long time already and i'm wondering if it is schedule to change soon...I checked for 2013 and the model is the same... only options have been modified.

I may let myself be tempted into a lease buster experience as well. A colleague at work got his S4 that way and says that it was painless... Still a decent chunk of money for a car ... but we only live once right?

I have an TT Roadster......but only since May 30th !! This is a used one, 2008 at almost 95 000km...I know it a little bit more than general but I don't care, the car is in top shape.

I just one word for you....WOW !!

Even it's my real first perfromance car, I can tell you it's a very good feeling driving this car.........under the sun

I don't have any bad experience with it and hope not !

Only one thing I regrets....Quattro !!! (I don't have it).

Good luck and have fun !

I've owned a 2004 TT coupe quattro since new, and am leasing a 2010 A4 for 2 years now. No issues other than damage to the steering and suspension thanks to the bombed out Montreal streets.

The thing I'd like to contribute is that Audis, like all german cars want their scheduled maintenance. So, if it says to change the Haldex fluid every 40000 km, do it. They want what they want. Do it and the TT you're considering should prove to be dependable and reliable. Ignore the maintenance and you probably won't like what follows. As stated previously, I have had NO problems of any kind with either one. My 1991 Audi Coupe was also dependable and lasted 10 years with a lot of kms on the clock. Electronics are not an issue.

The quattros are also happy as a pig in sh...t in winter, unstoppable. get yourself some smaller diameter wheels and narrower winter tires and you'll love the results

I'm partial to the coupe myself but it's about chassis rigidity, not space. The makeover for the TT is expected after next year. I suggest strongly you go for the TTS over the TT as the TTS, in my view, is the better one of the 2. The TTRS is obviously the top dog by far but they don't make a TTRS roadster. But it has that sweet (but raucous) Turbo 5 cylinder with the all-important (to me) stick shift
