DRL on fog on TT 2008
Hi everyones.
I did a small search here but didn't find.
I would like to have my DRL on the fog instead of on headlight. It is easy to change the signal or wire ?
I have an TT Roadster 2008.
Thanks in advance

Hi Slyman,
Did you ever manage to get your DRL on the fog lights?
I just did it on my TT last week:
If you don't have access to a VAG-com cable, send me a PM next time you are coming to Montreal. Takes 2 minutes literally.

I just did it on my TT last week:
- you need a VAG-com cable and VCDS program.
- in the Central Electric module #9, use the long code helper and tick the appropriate box. I don't remember what byte but it is easy to find.

Re: DRL on fog on TT 2008
Hi Beaven X5.
No I didn't do it yet cause my TT is in a warehouse for the winter
But as soon as I can take it out, I will ask for doing it. I have found someone here near Sherbrooke that can take care of for about 20$ or less.
Also, I would like to change the fog lamp for more white light. Maybe HID can be nice but I'm affraid about the heat created from HID.

If you ever come down to Montreal during the day, PM me and stop by my office (very easy to access on Decarie) and I will do it for you. Takes 2 minutes.
As for the whiter fog ligts, I am considering LED bulbs instead of HID. Easier, less expensive, more reliable but less light output. Does not realy matter for fogs...
I installed aftermarket HID on my daughter Mazda3, quite easy also but finding the right spot for the ballasts in the bumber around the fog lights might be a bigger challenge.
Here is what I am looking at: ebay item # 111006594826
If you ever come up to Laval in the spring, we can order 2 sets and do it together. I have a 2 cars garage. We will take care of the VAG-com at the same time.

Oh yeah that would be nice !!
I found the same Fog LED on vleds site at lower cost. The only thing, there is no error resistance kit that come with...I have send an email to make sure we can have it.
6K WHITE 11W LED DRL/FOG BULBS H8 1 PAIR
By the way, are you speaking french ?

Oui je parle français. C'est ma langue maternelle.
I guess I missed the price on the link I gave you this morning. This guy is nuts... we will get them cheaper elsewhere for sure. Your find looks good.
We can get the resistances at Addison for $1 ea or get these plug and play wiring harness for an ever easier job: ebay link

I don't know if you knew it but I've seen this
2008 Audi TT Accessories & Parts at CARiD.com
I'don't know the reputation there but the guy told me we do not need the resistor for the fog and other LED except maybe for the flasher. Those LED are free of error as they said and the price look nice.

Re: DRL on fog on TT 2008
I don't know about no load resistor. It is clear that the power consomption on the LED is lower than the Halogen. If the car CAN BUS monitors these fogs, then it is most likely that we will get an error message without a resistor.
That being said, I just changed my licence plate bulbs for 3 SMD LED, no load resistor and no errors.
About your last link: I think Q5 CREE LED would be a better product for fog lights than SMD LEDs. A little more expensive but more of a beam focus. Has anyone tried them both and can comment on the difference?
Last point: I will probably go with yellow color for the fog lights if I the LED string DRL works fine and I stop using my fog as DRL.

Some LED's require a load resistor as their wattage output is far less than a halogen bulb. The only way to tell is to measure the resistance of each bulb and match it accordingly.

Re: DRL on fog on TT 2008
I ended up ordering a set of Nokia Hyper Yellow 2500K halogen bulbs for the fogs. I saw them on a GTI and liked the color. Supposely much more bright than the LED...
I will report back the result in a few days when I receive and install them...
