How much extra would it cost to have the reverse camera fully integrated?

The cost of the camera. You can find them for $20-$40 depending on which one you choose. Again this is on Ebay.

Hey Matt,
Great info! I have been trying to find a factory navigation unit without success. I also saw the Chinese units on ebay. From what I see there are three different manufacturers making these units. The one that looks to have the most features is made by Maxtrons. Is that the one you purchased? I appreciate any info you can provide.
Thanks,
Dan

Hey Dan,

All the units are the same. I think its 1 manufacturer and they sell it to different companies who package it and redistribute it. I looked at the Ebay one you were looking at from Maxtron and its the same exact one I got. All the menues and features are identical. I took a pic of the box I got with all the labels so you cna compare. I would recomend you go with the cheapest and best reviews to make sure it a good seller. Im not sure but i think i posted before which seller I got and i chose him because he had good reviews and I got my unit super fast.

Sorry Danno,

I forgot to mention that the only unit that is different is the Dynavin. I looked into getting that one but it was a lot more expensive and it looked the same with different menu layout. I never used the unit so I cant tell you if its good or not or anything about it really.

If there is something specific about the unit performance you arent sure about, just ask me and I can give you some info or even take screen shots of the unit for you. Good luck.

Hi Matt,
Wow, where to start? Does the GPS act like a "normal"one where you can save multiple destinations and recall them? Does it recompute if you miss a turn? Does the interface with the CAN BUS steering wheel work well? Have you tried the rear view camera yet? Where are the phone numbers stored and displayed? - on the unit itself or in the dashboard display like it is now. Since you have had time to play with it more are you still satisfied? Did you learn more how to use it? I am tired of trying to find a factory unit and am leaning more towards this if it is really a good unit.
Your help is appreciated.

Hey Danno,

I think the best feature in the unit, next to the clean stock look, is the GPS. I was using a Garmin gps before this unit and this unit wins hands down. Yes it acts like a normal system, you can store locations, it has a history, points of interest if you want to look something up by name and all that stuff. Just like a normal unit, it takes about a minute or two to boot up and that is done when you select the GPS feature or the if you start the car after having the gps on last time you turned off the car. Keep in mind the GPS system can work with many softwares like tomtom, Igo, route something and a bunch of other ones. I only used Igo which is the software that came with the unit and thats the only one i can make reference to. I like it.

I havent tried the rearview camera yet, I been too lazy to install it but the unit has a feature where it will automatically change modes to show the reverse camera when you put the car in reverse and go back to noraml function when you put the car in drive.

The steering wheel feature has volume up and down, mute, seek up and down which changes tracks or radio stations, answer BT calls, hang up, redial, main menu and that it. It cant be programmed to do anything else. The only thing is before I had this unit when I scrolled up with the steering wheel control it would go to the previous song, now up is next song, I personally like it better this way but if your used to stock audi control you might take time to adjust.

The bluetooth does have phone book feature but it only stores numbers without names. I found it pretty useless and never used it because its hard to make out numbers so small while driving. This is s shortcoming in the unit. Also it doesnt have text message features so its only good for pick up, hang up, redial and no other feature. Sound is good, clear and mic is not bad. Caller ID is also number without names which sucks because you dont want to be reading numbers while driving and I dont know anyones phone # so you have to look at your phone to see whos calling.

I am satisfied overall, the only complaint I have is the equalizer is a little weird. Its almost as if every can be listened to its fullest capability if the levels are adjusted. I cant explain it but all my other systems I didnt use the EQ as much. You also cant hook up a subwoofer or any base systems so I would say this isnt for you if you are hardcore about sound and nothing else. I bought this unit for the stock look and features and im happy with that part. Again, it takes some time to get used to everything and find work arounds the wonky stuff but so far there is a work around to everything.

I think if the factory units have the same features I would go for factory but its waaaaaaaaay more expensive and maybe im a little cheap but I thought the price of this is more reasonable and its hard to find factory.

Another cool feature which is more cool then useful is the video input. I hooked up my Iphone and you can use this units screen to see whats on the iphone is you have the proper AV cables. With my Iphone I have an app called Log Me In which gives you complete control and access of your home computer on your Iphone. That means what I have on my home computer I have on the screen of my car system including internet access and all files.

Hope this helps....

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the very detailed reply. What I am struggling with is there are actually at least two different Chinese GPS units available. For sure they are much different hardware wise and it appears from the descriptions software also. One unit says it supports more functions such as tire pressure monitoring. Here are two ebay item numbers for the two units. Which one did you buy? What do you think about the comparison between the two. I really value your opinion.

Please let me know.
Thanks,

Hey Danno,

I bought the 320785748392 and the main reason is the look. Personally I thought it was more proportionate and I didnt like how the other one had all the buttons on the right.

The first one (160643389180) they actually copied the Audi system (called RDS) design. I dont know if Audi still uses that in their newer cars. The second one they came up the design from scratch which i think was first created by Dynavin (http://www.dynavin.com/) which offer versions with more features (like phone books with names) but cost substantially more.

I looked at the links you sent and spec wise they are the same. They both use the Win CE 6 software but they have different graphic interface. I looked at al the features and they both are identical with the exception of air pressure thing that I never heard of. They both use the same names and features, just looks are setup differently.

I think its going to come down to 3 things. Which unit you think looks better physically (how the hardware butons are located), which unit you feel has a better looking design (the way the menus are setup) and price.
