Default 2014 Audi TT 2.0 Quattro - "Grill Filler Panel"

Cheers,

Just bought the TT. It came from a state that requires a front license plate; my state does not. Therefore, I want to replace the "license plate bracket" (Audi terminology), OEM part no: 8J0807285QT94, (AudiUSA Parts website) that I have removed with a "bracket" (Audi terminology), OEM part no: 8J0807275RT94, (AudiUSA Parts website). Two dealers have confirmed the latter part number - the one that I need. On the back of the part that I removed is the following: "8J0807285 P/Q" and underneath that, "PC/PET" - which presumably equates to the aforementioned "8J0807285QT94".

I don't know how many diffferent year TTs were equipped with one or the other part. Anyway does anyone have a "bracket", 8J0807285RT94 that they want to trade for a "license plate bracket", 8J0807285RT94?

If no trade is in the offering, does anyone have a "bracket", 8J0807284RT94 that they wish to sell? I do know that either part's MSRP is $311 (U.S. dollars), not including approximately $25.00 (U.S. dollars) shipping; although it can be purchased on line for approximately $250.00, including shipping.

Does anyone wish to buy the part that I do not need: "license plate bracket", OEM part no: 8J0807285QT94?

LOL Another example of how European "plastic" HAS to be actually made of gold or some other exotic material. Why else would they ask for 330$ for a small piece of plastic trim. Seriously Audi?

I got educated in "the ways of European cars" the day after I got my car when I couldn't fit the licence plate to the back of my car. It needed an adapter for North-American plates that it did not have... and, me being the naïve boy that I am, first thought of going straight to the local Audi dealer. "That part is 149$" says the guy on the other side of the counter, all the while keeping a straight face! Oh, and the hood release handle broke in my hand on the first try (seems to be some kind of tradition on TTs... they are onto their 3rd or 4th design for that part). Well, for that thing which has about 1oz of plastic in it, the guy wanted 50$!

Of course, I found another way of getting what I wanted for my car... and don't plan on ever going to an Audi dealer again in my life. Great cars... but the term "stealers" must have been coined after a visit to an Audi concession.

Best of luck finding your part mate!

Thumbs up Re: 2014 Audi TT 2.0 Quattro - "Grill Filler Panel"

Thanks for commiserating. I'll be sure not to attempt to use the hood release very often. LOL.

"Bit the bullet" and bought the part - $233.25, including shipping from Audi of Lexington; expensive but better than the $311.00 retail, plus shipping. Anyone have any helpful hints on how to install the new part? I'd hate to break it! Thanks.
