Thanks!

Tomorrow it will be three weeks since I took my car in to report the problem. They started by checking the spark plugs and coil packs on the Friday that I took the car in. As they were waiting for coil packs over the course of the following week they discovered the TSB and confirmed that the wrong exhaust valve springs were installed.

Since I had heard a of a few cases already, I told them I would prefer to keep the car together until we knew for sure what it was. When it turned out it was the exhaust valve springs and they would need special tools I was quite relieved that I opted to keep the car together.

They said they would be in touch with AofC after the (long) weekend. Last week AofC was supposed to be getting the tools from Snap-on for the dealer. They still didn't have anything by the end of last week.

There's been no update this week and my car is still sitting in my garage. I'll be heading to the dealership tomorrow to find out where we are at. Fingers crossed for good news, please!

Parts arrived a little while ago and the tools arrived Thursday. She goes in Monday and I should have her back Tuesday. I'll update again once I have her back.

Got the TTS back yesterday. She runs beautifully and will not misfire regardless of how hard I drive it. The extra power that my APR tune provides now smoothly pushes the car right to 7200 RPM's without any power surging.

She's a MONSTER!

Unfortunately the service department didn't have the paperwork finished as the tech had to leave early. I will pop around the dealership again tomorrow to get my copy of what they did and ask a few questions. I'll post anything more that I find out.

Would love to hear - I've have two check lights due to miss-fires already.

I ended up going back to the dealer to see if they had any more information about the work. Everything they told me was pretty much the same. They just had to replace the exhaust valve springs. Again, the wrong ones were installed at the factory. The delay was getting the tools they needed for the job. Parts only took a week or so. Knowing that, make sure they have the parts (and tools if necessary) on order before they rip your car apart.

ron_ricco: Audi of Richmond has already performed this on at least one other TTS that I know of. If they aren't already your dealer, you may want to contact them as they have experience with it.

Good luck!

Great News, so you say that the power of the car has increased? or just that it will rev to 7200 without a problem now?

Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion. I had the APR Stage I ECU Upgrade done to my car 5-6 weeks ago. The misfiring and surging was causing power loss at 6000-6500 RPM that was interrupting a lot of the car's new maximum potential from the APR tune. Now that it doesn't misfire and it smoothly revs right to 7200 RPM I can feel all of the extra power from the APR tune.

In case you are interested in the APR numbers...
