Default 2009 TT 2.0 Quattro

Am I right in thinking that last year, you could not buy the 2nd generation TT with a 2.0T and Quattro? It is my understanding that to get Quattro you had to get the 3.2 engine. Am I out to lunch on this?

You are 100% correct. Quattro was only available with the 3.2 TT in 2008. Audi added Quattro to the 2.0T TT for 2009. S-Tronic only though. If you want a manual transmission you still have to get the 3.2

I think that the 2.0 with Quattro is a good combination. In a small car like that 200hp is plenty for our roads. But a and manual 6 speed would top it off nicely.

I can't remember...have you driven S-Tronic? At least for the TTS, it is a perfectly mated transmission. I imagine it would be equally matched on the 2.0T TT. These are words I would have laughed at a year ago, but it shifts SO well that it totally makes up for the lack of being able to manually shift through the gears with a clutch pedal and shifter. On paper I believed in the S-Tronic's ability to shift faster and more efficiently that a manual transmission, but feared I would sorely miss the physical motions and (supposed) control of the manual transmission. With both hands on the wheel and a HUGE grin on my face I was sold on S-Tronic the first time I punched it!

Thanks, I have driven the DSG in an A3 2.0T Front Track. It was impressive for sure. But with the front track the powerful 2.0 broke the front tires loose in wet conditions, quattro is almost an imperative. I am glad that they are making more use of the 2.0T, it is a great engine. And yes, all the car reporters state that the car is quicker with the s-tronic than with a manual. But there are some things that are still more fun to do yourself.

Anyhow, the lack of a manual tranny will not keep me from getting a new TT or TTS, but the price tags will probably make me wait and find a CPO in a year or two. Till then my TT 225 brings on plenty of grins.
