Key Programming
You need both of your switchblade keys to re-program them, you can program up to five switchblade keys:
Take the key you do not want to program (if it already works) and put it in the ignition. Turn it one click forward.
Close and lock the drivers door with the second key with the window down (you can also do this from the inside of your car).
On the second key (the one in the drivers door) press the 'UNLOCK' button ONCE only, the lights will flash on the car, but the doors will remain locked
With the second key still in the drivers door, unlock then lock the door again.
Pull the key from the slot and also take out the key out of your ignition and than test the remote functions.
Repeat for second key fob / switchblade / key whatever you want to call it !!! Enjoy!! This worked on my 04 a4 1.8t !!
You might end up doing it a few times to get the hang of the procedure so its all a smooth one step type of thing and the comp will learn it! NOTICE if you are too slow / too fast this will not work!!

Re: Key Programming
Ummm, when your battery dies the remote keys are not recognized or you disconnect your battery to replace it or anything like that. After this happens you can not unlock your doors with the remote but you can by sticking the key into the door lock and then unlocking it, so the steps above are how to reprogram the key so the wireless unlocking works again

Re: Key Programming
Too bad this doesn't work on a new key that isn't already programmed to the car. I tried this procedure with a new key I bought off ebay. Then the second key is in the door, you can press the unlock button all you want, the lights dont flash.
I have read around and found everywhere that says for a new key that has never been used on that car it has to goto the dealership. They use their scan tool which hooks to the internet, they enter their audi tech password to make the key work.
This isn't something that you can do on your own with a key never used on the car before. What I am saying refers to my 02 A4.
