i finally got the cable BUT i am having trouble with the ross-tech program.. downloaded 409 but it won't connect to my B7, only to my brother's older Jetta BUT even when it's connected it says it's shareware and not registered...

yeah i followed that BUT basically
the vag software from rosstech detects the cable
the software detects the car
but the software is in shareware mode thus i cannot change anything.....

You may want to re-install it again and see if that fixes it. This is the exact one i downloaded.
