Unwanted sounds
Hello all
Before this last weekend I only had this problem once, but I took a trip into the city and on the way there and back my TT was making the weirdest noise.
The sound comes from the steering wheel or the steering column. It also has to be the most obscure and most difficult sound to try to explain. It is a sort of.."squeeking" but it also scratches in and out. It is almost like the sound of an older computer but with more of a squeek to it. The car is running great and there is no issue but that sound.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or have an idea of what it is? The only way to stop it is giving the column a good tap. And it only stops for about 10-15 min highway driving. The sound isn't the tilt\telescopic steering, or anything on the outside of the column...it is definitly inside of it.
Thanks for any input!

Re: Unwanted sounds
Hi guys, I bought a used 2003 A4 quattro 75,000 miles, and I have the same problem, this weird sound is quite similar to the sound that a CD player makes.
My car has some hesitation and the check engine light is on. The mechanic says (after changing a couple of sensors) that cannot find any more problems. I have noticed that the car has more hesitation when light is on, and improves when the mechanic resets it (even without changing or doing anything with the car).
Does it mean that the computer is wrong or it is just the computer trying to scan/find the problem.
Please help me.
