New car purchase price tax...
Hopefully an easy question for those of you in BC:
Typical dealer fees are:
Freight & PDI: typically about $2k for most Audi models
Doc fees: usually around $250 - $500
Enviro fees: $130 (A/C, tires, battery)
Some dealers negotiate on these prices, others don't. Some include them in the cost of the car, while others list them as separate line items.
The final sales price of the car has PST and GST added to it.
However, how are these fees taxed?
I would assume that the Enviro fees wouldn't be taxed, since they're essentially already tax? (you never know though with the government!). What about Doc Fees and F&PDI? It would seem that those should only be taxed with GST, but is PST charged on them as well?
Thanks!
