Yeah I can't really imagine what it would be like to have that happen and have no control over the situation - no time to react. Alot of people are not prepared for the weather and should not be on the roads. Hope you recover shortly and get your life back to normal. Take care.

90km/h on an open highway, with just blowing snow (as he said, and you glossed over) at 1°C is perfectly appropriate. Obviously, this is an opinion, and you cannot argue an opinion . . . so why are you even commenting? As Speedtek noted, you weren't there to make the judgment, so why make it now based on his internet description of the event?

I've thought about snow tires being mandatory in places such as SK, but I really think that's just Band-Aid'ing the problem. People are ignorant and would continue to be so after you forced them to purchase Winter tires; although, the tires would make the roads safer. I think redesigning our licencing system would get closer to the root of the problem. It may even have a positive effect on the staunch ignorance that seems to pervade modern society. I have told literally dozens of people that it is possible, on nearly any vehicle made, to set up your side/rear mirrors so that you don't have to shoulder check. No one believes me - they don't even consider it! I've been able to do it on every vehicle I've owned, or driven in for a more than a short trip. I argue that in most cases - other than the road being completely clear - it is more unsafe to shoulder check. If there are vehicles in front of you, you lose a second of reaction time while you're looking away.

Imagine a roadway where the average 45 year-old woman could control a 4-wheel drift easily, run a car through a slalom, and understands basic vehicle dynamics, like weight transfer!

Anyways, Speedtek, glad you're at least alive, and don't waste your time feeling anything about what happened as it was out of your hands - you know that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, check out http://searchused.ca/ to search for a TT. Prices are plummeting and now is the perfect time to buy. There's a 225 Coupe in Calgary with a brand-new engine, which would be very nice; although, could indicate abuse. If you need someone to take a look at one in Regina before you make the trip to check it out, lemme' know and I'll be happy to check it out (I have a VAG-COM, as well).

SPEEDTEK: may you recover fast and completely! Do not second-guess yourself!
You were, my understanding is, acting responsibly and did not actively contribute to this tragedy.

I want to say that in the Darwinist spirit I strongly believe in the "natural selection" and I sympathise with your situation where one is directly involved and pays the price of another's idiotic and less caring behaviour when they chose to act without even the slightest concern for what their recklessness could do to others... PHISICALY and MENTALY!

I am sorry if my words offend some, but it is my opinion!
