How often do you change your oil?

Re: How often do you change your oil?
I have always taken my vehicle to dealership to have oil changed. Sometimes hubby does it f I can't get to the city for some reason.
Usually 4000 to 6000 miles then every 4000 miles after that

I just got back from a trip from northern California, so I just went and got mine changed today. I don't typically go to the dealer to get a change, I just take it into Brake Masters and they do a pretty good job.

Re: How often do you change your oil?
I guess I am a paranoid owner because my baby is always at the dealership for one thing or another. So I never have trouble fitting her in for an oil change, if anything I am a little over the top with it

Re: How often do you change your oil?
The best thing you can actually do is get an oil analysis of your used motor oil in the car. This was probably the best thing I did when I owned my Prelude and will do the same for the S4.
For the Prelude, I was changing oil as recomended by the lab every 8k miles (13k kms) using synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 filter. Synthetic oil is superior in protecting the engine when compared to dino oil and I see no point in spending the extra cash and destroying the environment by changing it every 5k kms when I can do the same for regular dino oil. I chose to use synthetic because it is a better oil and helps the environment in the long run as less oil is "wasted". I'm such a tree hugger, hahaha.

What exactly does the analysis show? Is it to show that your car is running clean, or good, or that you are late or early changing the oil? Or that there are other problems with the car?

Re: How often do you change your oil?
Just check out the website and see for yourself as they are better at explaining it than I am. If you are interested in extended oil changes, get the TBN analysis done as I did this with my old car.
