Extended Warranty in Canada

Extended Warranty in Canada
Hi,
I just bought a 2012 Audi A4 S-Line Quattro 2 days ago from a VW dealership. Pretty much fell in love with the car as soon as I saw it. (Maybe that was the problem...)
Because Audi can be costly to repair, I bought the extended warranty that the dealer was offering, which they said would kick in after the original factory warranty ends (in 1.5 years). But after reading through the contract today, I realized it is effective from the date of purchase, so it overlaps the factory warranty and I lose 1.5 years of the extended warranty. Good thing is that I can still cancel it within the first 30 days of purchase.
My question is: what kind of extended warranty have you guys bought (I heard Audi Care or Audi After Care)? My extended warranty is through a 3rd party, which after reading a few forums doesn't sound like a good idea. I'd like to hear from everybody's experiences.
Thanks!

Re: Extended Warranty in Canada
Audi Care is a dealer provided scheduled maintenance program (usually provides scheduled at a discounted price since you pay the full amount up front) - nothing to do with warranty.
Reread the terms of the extended warranty you got and decide if the cost is less than what repairs might be over the duration of the extended warranty. Make sure you fully understand what is or isn't covered. In essence it's an insurance policy - you buy expecting to make a claim and save money against actual cost of a future repair/failure; selling company is hoping no claims occur so they can keep all your money.

Re: Extended Warranty in Canada
Mine has a extended warranty with FCCP - First Canadian Protection Plan. The previous owner had 2 years left on it, and it was transferable. I pay a 100 deductible. So far I have had the intake manifold replaced- covered. Drivers window motor replaced- covered. So far so good with coverage.
