Exhaust flex joint replacement GTA shop help
The flex joint on my A4 B6 1.8T is failing slowly. Reaserch tells me a good muffler/exhaust shop can cut out and replace this joint without having to replace the entire pipe. Has anyone had this done and/or suggest a good shop that does it? I'm in Mississauga east and would like to find someone local. thnx Audi guys

Re: Exhaust flex joint replacement GTA shop help
I can't really recommend a shop in the GTA as I live in the GRVD but I'd recommend doing it yourself. Something like that should take less than an hour and with a MIG welder and universal flex pipe you'd be done in about 15 minutes. Just be sure to scrub off all the surface corrosion and make sure all the contact areas are absolutely clean. I'd start with a wire brush and then follow up with 60 grit. When you're done you can spray high temp sealer around the welds.
If you do happen to replace it yourself it shouldn't cost you more than an hour for labour. The flex pipe on the 1.8T engine is fairly easy to get to and isn't too large of a diameter to be difficult to weld up just as long as the vehicle is up on a lift.

Sorry to bump an older post but not many people Are capable of mig welding or even having a mig welder. On that note if you haven't already done it go to hot rod scots on Kipling.
