Awd?

Re: Awd?
I use a few but this one does quite a bit of work for me. That may take specialized hardware because the eeprom may in the MCU. My other combination is hardware and software that diagnoses with a read write function.
MCUmall Electronics Inc. A low cost EPROM EEPROM Atmel PIC I2C SPI programmer online store
As an example, this combination does this:
For Airbags

and
http://esatinc.ca/VW_and_Audi_Airbag_65535.pdf
For security systems

In your case, the controller needs to be opened and find out what type of MCU or Eeprom is built in.

Re: Awd?
Nothing like late night electronics
I haven't opened the Haldex Controller yet so I haven't seen the eeprom mounting.
How do you interface the eeprom with your reader / programmer? Is the chip socketed on the OE controller so that you can remove it or do you use a "stock style" wire harness to connect to the controller for surface mount chip comms?

Re: Awd?
That would depend on the type of Eeprom or MCU. Some programming is done on the IC (Eeprom or MCU) Again everything depends is the Eeprom is locked or not or if it can be read directly. When it comes the the MCU, sometimes a direct read is possible. In other cases a direct connect via "K" or CAN is possible for flash updates.
Opening the controller and reading what IC's are built in will give you an idea of the programming type.
ie: Comfort control modules in newer Audi models can be programmed with remote windows UP and Down be changing the coding of the controller via DLC. The VW models are different, that feature needs to be adjusted in the MCU still via DLC with a programming cable.
The AWD controller is most times with a flash via DLC. If you don't have the flash, you're not going anywhere. If you have a copy of the Eeprom data, now you're talking.
