Audi MSRP

Audi MSRP
Hi everyone,
I am thinking about buying my first new 2011 A4, or S4 from an Audi dealership in Calgary. They said i should pay full sticker price for the car, because everyone else does. The best deal i can get is the Audi care throw in. Their attitude is you buy it, or you don't, and they don't need you. Is this the norm with all Audi dealerships in Canada, that MSRP is non-negotiable? Has anyone has a better experience, or better deal somewhere else in Canada? Thanks for helping me get an enjoyable Audi buying experience.

Here is the deal I got, and it is legit. So I say do not give up until you get a discount. Try other dealers go drive to Edmonton if you have to!

Re: Audi MSRP
I also thought the same and when my dealer told me make me an offer well i did and got an extra 2500 of my Audi A5 2010 as you got nothing to lose and if does not want to bring the price down well go to another place as im sure another dealer will be happy to sell you a car .

Re: Audi MSRP
Thanks a lot whitedevileyes. I didn't expect one can get that much of a discount. I usually got about 2 to 3% discount off sticker price at BMW dealer for a new car. Now, that is much more sense. I will show them the invoice, and see what they say. I keep you posted. I think we are already pay too much here in Canada. I don't think we need to pay full price.

Re: Audi MSRP
I have sensed that deals are hard to come by on Audi's around here and the same with BMW. Perhaps things have changed lately. Make them an offer and see what happens. I would think a few g's max. would be about it unless it was a '10 they can't sell. There are some rebates going on too.

Re: Audi MSRP
AudiBabe,
If you're ordering a 2011 to spec, its more difficult to get a deal than if you were to just pick from their stock. They're going to want to sell their inventory before ordering a new one and thats their "justification" for not lowering the price on brand new orders. So its much tougher.
Is that what you're planning on doing, custom order?
In the end really its going to come down to how firm you are with negotiating but they dont budge more than a couple Gs on brand new, let alone custom orders.

Re: Audi MSRP
I just ordered a new Avant and decided to use Best Price Express to find me a deal. They charge $195 and also have a Calgary service. You may want to call and ask about their experience with Audi in Calgary. If you only have 1 dealer in Calgary, you will no doubt have less opportunity for savings. They may also be able to get you prices from any other dealers in Edmonton.

I live about 2+ hours north of Vancouver and this was a great way to buy a car! No driving all over the city haggling with the local dealers and still wondering if I got a good deal. Just a few phone calls from the house and I was done.
It appears the dealer has about 8-10% margin between the invoice price and retail. My Car Cost Canada report does not show any factory rebates right now, only the 3.9% financing offer. Your price will depend entirely on your local supply/demand situation and could range from say 3 to 5% discount from the retail price in a "normal" market. In a hot market with limited competition it could well be 0 % discount! In my case there were virtually no 2010 Avant's in town and apparently an allocation of 2011 models for BC, so not a lot of negotiating room! I ended up with about 4.5 % over dealer cost. Audi also seems to be doing well in general, so they are not struggling to move inventory at the factory level.
You can always try a reasonably discounted offer and see what they say.
