Essentially you buy the car here but go over to Europe to pick it up from the Factory. You drive the car in Europe for however long you like then drop it off at one of a dozen designated drop off points and it is shipped to your dealership in North America.

The logistics of it are different for different companies and are different between USA and Canada for some companies.

Audi only offers the program in the USA. It offers 5% off of the MSRP, 1 night free hotel stay, 14days of free insurance while in Europe, free transportation to and from your hotel, and free meals the day you pick up your vehicle.

Both MB and BMW offer the program to USA and Canada. However they both offer somewhere between 5-7%off of the purchase price for USA as well as the other benefits as above. BMW also offers 2 for 1 airfare for Americans. For Canadians we get no discount off of price, but I do believe the 14days of free insurance and other niceties still apply.

Ideally I'd like all the companies to offer the same package to Canadians that they give to the Americans. We already pay about 10% more for the car so I don't think we should have to forego discounts that Americans get. However I'd at least expect Audi to offer the program for Canadians in some form.

Do you own an AUDI now? If they offered it in Canada on a scale of 1-10 how serious would you be in doing this? Which car would you be purchasing.

Just curious?

I don't currently own an Audi.

I have never owned a German car, mostly because it was out of my price range. Next year I'm due a substantial bonus, and am needing a new vehicle. I can now honestly afford a nice German sports sedan. I will begin test drives later this fall or next spring. Right now my favored car in the segment is likely the Audi S4. A friend of mine had a B6 or B7 Audi a few years back and I really liked that car. I told myself that if I could afford it I would get one like it some day.

It wasn't until about 2 months ago that I found out about the bonus next year and only about the last months that I thought about spending it on a new vehicle. I was visiting the Audi World Forum and read many threads on European Delivery. For them it worked out to be a free trip to Europe and a chance to drive on the Autobahn and some other great roads in Europe. The idea sounded really good and I was convinced that was what I would do next fall. I soon found out that Audi Canada didn't offer this program. Now it's really hard to think of buying a new car without doing the European Delivery.

Right now my choice is likely between the 335i xdrive and the S4. If the S4 was night and day better I'd still likely get it even without the ED option. However if they are very close and I could honestly live with either one (which is what I expect I will find) then the option of European Delivery on a BMW might tip the balance in favor of BMW.

Have you gotten any response back from Audi Canada? I wish you luck in your endeavour however I suspect that turning the tide in such a short time frame will most likely not happen. Keep us posted.

When I was shopping for my car, I noticed about the European delivery as well. It was quite tempting really. I just want to say, don't get the 335ix. Either 335i or S4, the ix just isn't that good....

Well it's a good thing that you didn't want European delivery because it wouldn't have been an option for you living in Canada. Unless of course you meant for a BMW.

I'd love that option if we could I could pick up the A4 with the 3.0 TDI engine! Why are there so little diesel options in North America? Europe has 3 different diesel models to choose from.

Come on Audi!

You can only get North American Spec models just like here. It just gives you the ability to use the car in Europe first before it is delivered here

You didn't answer my question....on a scale from 1-10 how serious are you?

As BMW offers the Euro delivery and Audi doesn't then I suppose we are going to lose you soon.

I recently ordered a 2012 Q5, and inquired about the European delivery program; consistent with the thread below it is not currently offered to Canadians. This is in contrast to our American cousins who, ironically, pay less for their Audis (in my case ~10k, not including the benefit of the higher Canadian dollar). Also, I reviewed the Canadian websites for Mercedes, Volvo, and BMW, and confirmed they all continue to have European delivery. Volvo, in fact, will provide air fair for two.

Question for those that own currently own Audis - is the lack of European delivery indicative of how Audi treats its Canadian customers? It seems to me that they are lagging behind here, I am curious if that theme is consistent in your dealings with them.

Thx.
