So when are you guys going to strap the neon tubes underneath the bodies of your cars? This is sounding all too similar.
Yes, they are LED's.
Yes, they are new*.
And yes, they should be left to OEM applications, especially on cars that are such amazing examples of automotive engineering.
*New to Audi as an OEM part. LED lighting tubes have been around for a quite a while for aftermarket automotive application. Strap those to the underside of your car if you prefer them over neon.

I didn't see anything about "considering the A3 a lesser car." The A3, especially the 2009, is one my of favourite Audi's. Give me an S3 and I would be in heaven! If you read my initial post I was praising all Audi's as "amazing examples of automotive engineering." I also gave you credit for both your work and your posts. If anyone is getting flak about their car, it's me.

I went back and read my posts a couple of times. It was simply an opinion and a suggestion that all of this LED hype looks like it could very easily mirror the days of neon tubes on cars.

I bought a set off e-bay, shipped straight from china. I took my car apart, baked the headlights apart, installed them perfectly, put the headlights back on the car, and within 3 day I had sections of the led's buning out. Wife told me it looked like teeth were missing. Pieces of s#!t didnt even last a week! Take my advice, dont put your time and effort into the cheap ones. Source out some quality ones from germany or something. When you have done that - let me know, I need some!

the LEDs that im using are 4chip LEDs. the initial project was the flexible strip,but that did not last long. The 4chip LEDs however have been flawless. The fog-grill mod has since put on 7000miles with rain, heatwave, carwashes, etc and are still functioning like the first time i installed them. The headlamp LEDs (same 4chip) are getting more use now and has at least accrued 3000miles and no issues!

By the numbers replies on this thread LED mods are quite popular. I mean, what to mod on your car is pure personal preference and I'm very glad everyone has different ideas of what's cool or not. I certainly don't want everybody drive the same car. A lot of engineers and designers go to shows like SEMA to look at ideas there, so while some people don't like under car neon because it's ricey, some engineers are considering having them as "supplemental visibility enhancer" to add to rear fog lights.

hey i was wondering where you got the LED's for this and how long the install took, lookin at getting a 2008-07 a4 but want the 09 lights.... and that my friend poses a bit of a problem lol
