Adaptive Headlights

Adaptive Headlights
I have a 2010 S4 Premium with the Bi-Xenon adaptive headlights. In recent days, especially when it has been very cold, they have not been performing their usual calibration dance routine when starting, and do not appear to be "reaching" around corners when driving. Yesterday (it was -21) the driver's side light was clearly aimed higher than the passenger side light, and today they were both aimed too low.
Is this a known problem? I have not had any warning lights as described in some other posts. I have not yet taken it to the dealer (it's still under warranty), but I would like some ammunition before I do if it is a common thing.
Thanks!

Re: Adaptive Headlights
from the small circle of people I know with the adaptive lights, this would be considered an unusual problem IMO
My lights have never had any issues, best bet would be to take it to audi for a new headlight assembly on both sides. Request that because there are just too many things that can go wrong. Not to mention once they get in the light to fix it, they may disturb something else and this would then become a regular topic for you to go back to the dealer every few months

Re: Adaptive Headlights
Thank you, hojimoe. I fear this is going to be one of those intermittent problems that refuses to produce itself in the hands of the dealer. After I posted this message yesterday, the lights began working perfectly for the first time in several days. I would frankly be happier if they simply froze up and stayed that way: that would be easy to explain, and easy to get fixed.

Re: Adaptive Headlights
Thanks 1move, I realize that. The headlights were obviously well out of alignment. The main part of the beam in normal alignment is relatively even; in this case, against a wall 10' away, the right beam was at least 6" lower than the left one. I was on a flat surface.

Re: Adaptive Headlights
My suggestion is to get someone with a vag-com and run through the adaptation of the headlights again to reset them, thats what the dealer is going to do anyways, which should fix the misalignment

Re: Adaptive Headlights
I have 2010 S4. When it's cold, and it can be as little as -5C or usually below -10C, I noticed that when I turn the car on, driver's side headlights takes a few moments to calibrate and eventually sets in the proper position. I also noticed that when it's called, the passanger's side healight does not fully work for cornering
I went to the dealer who checked and did not find any codes, so asked me to monitor. It seems that this is a more common problem than I thought, as more people are having such issues. If Audi is aware of that problem, then they should corrected and do a recall...

Re: Adaptive Headlights
Having similar problems with my b8 s4. Dealer seems unwilling to fix it. This has only happened in the last 6 months. It's has been cold but this never happened during the past 3 years. Anyone find a way to get this fixed.

Re: Adaptive Headlights
I have been having the same problem as well. Appears when it is raining as well. The lights will not corner and the driver headlight will dip, then come back up and repeat a few times before settling. The problem is intermittent at the moment. Maybe will try the reset as mentioned.
