RNS-E EU to US Change
I just got an RNS-E, EU model and need to convert either the firmware or a DVD to North America. I hear I need vag-com for this. Not wanting to spend more money..wondering if anyone has done this and might want to help for some free gas/beer.

The install of the actual unit was painless. The hardest part was opening the instrument cluster for the GPS. Actually, the hardest part was waiting for it to arrive..

well its installed any everything works except the rns-e doesnt detect my phone. but bluetooth in the car works if i use the display in the instrument cluster one. not sure whats wrong... prob something in the vag-com to fix.

congrats! i had a pain trying to upgrade the firmware from EU to US but managed..after a few hours on the other sites.
Which bluetooth module did you get? the OEM or a 3rd-party one?

well i left it after recoding it to the correct coding... didnt work... walked away and came back at it fresh tonight and it was working... not sure why it took so long or what but its working now! love it! also tossed in the memory card for some tunes and its sweet!

i have the oem unit.. came with the car.
mind you i think i have a modded disc to run North American Maps on the EU unit. I'm thinking i have the 2009 maps and id like to get the 2010 ones but don't know where to get it or how to do it.

transcend made 4GB cards. Let me know if you find any. I bought a few off newegg.ca a year ago, but I think they're all gone.
