So NO a US purchased CPO on a US Audi imported to Canada would not be accepted by a Canadian Audi dealership.

I also asked an independent car dealer in Kitchener if I could purchase an extended warranty from a private warranty company and he said sure i could , but it would not be anywhere near as extensive as an Audi CPO (Certified Pre-Owned warranty).

So this is what I have. I have no idea if involving a lawyer will have any impact on Canadian Audi dealers accepting US CPO's or not but even if they do, what will the lawyer costs be in labor fees to convince them?

Love to hear more input on this.

You are exactly right, in canada, they don't transfer the CPO EXCEPT in Quebec(where I am...). My fight will be the email they sent to my friend which is dated January 15th 2010 and the registration of my car to Audi canada which happened in July 2009 and the CPO should have transfered as stated at that time...

I won't go to court for this, just a quick letter to wake them up...

Also, even if they do go and repair their wrongs, I will not continue to purchase any of their products and will probably sell the car sooner than I would have even if I love it.

Hi everyone,

just got a pleasant phone call from my CSR at Audi canada and they are denying my CPO again since last year, when I called to transfer ownership of the car, I didn't send a mail asking to transfer the CPO also and this has to be written.

Excellent customer service... right...

Sounds like they are going to deny it one way or another. Unless you have a huge warranty bill, probably not worth the legal route. The unfortunate thing is that the U.S. dealers inflate the price of the car by about $2500 to "certify" it, so not only do you not have the warranty, but you're out the initial markup as well. When I was looking, the U.S. dealers were willing to drop the price by about $2k to "uncertify" it, which seemed like an okay deal, as the preinspection work had already been done, new tires, etc. and they will usually only certify cars that meet a certain quality standard ahead of time. Best of luck however it works out. Keep us posted with any new developments..........this was very difficult and contradictory information to find online when i was looking, so to know the final outcome is helpful for future importers.

Just to be sure... if a US dealer is not willing to lower the price down to _Un-Certify the US CPO for a Canadian purchase, than can one still cross the border into the US to a US Audi dealer to have any repairs done? If I am close to the border I would assume I could cross over to have warranty work done using the uS CPO right? Assuming the car is still driveable and not needing towed...lol

Your thoughts? Or an answer from a proven Audi owner who has done this and it works ok?

As you said, not worth the legal route, it was around 1400$...

I just wanted to have that thread open to warn potential buyers of this problem.

The car runs great but my money is going to talk next time I buy a car (guess what, not an audi...)

I have a letter from audi Canada sent to another person in 2009. It says it does honor the cpo.

I spoke with the salesman about the specifics of this, he indicated because the letter states all audi warranties, it also implies the cpo warranty.

I am trying to get an answer to this questions as well - Anyone have experience with this?

I believe the situation has changed in the fall of 2009 where they decided one day that CPO warrantied vehicles from the US will not be honoured in Canada unless you register the car in Quebec where the legislature states that all warranties must remain with the car. (I believe, don't hold me to it! )

Thanks for the update. I just made arrangements to purchase an 09 TT in Chicago on the weekend. The vehicle was originally offered certified but the dealer said that Audi would not allow the CPO to be transferred when he attempts to transfer it to me as I do not have a US address. I ended up getting the vehicle discounted by $2000 to compensate but still wonder if it would have been worth it to get the CPO warranty.
