Hi guys I recently bought an 00 A8 and I am looking to put the 4.2l engine in my mid engine tube chassis and I am looking for a good 2wd transmission to mate it with longitudinally. I've been looking into an 01e for the longest time because everyone else uses that but now I'm thinking I want to go with an auto so I'm wondering if anyone knows a good auto to go with it that is similar to the 01e and will bolt right on. I'm on a pretty low budget.

I was told that to put the 01e on the a8 I'd need to get parts to adapt it and also modified shift linkage but an auto will bolt right on.

Also need info on mating axles from the trans to corvette hubs.
