Hello all,

I'm calling out all of the Audio Guru's!

My B6 A4 came with the Base stereo and it's just not cutting it for me.

Thing is, I have a parts car with complete Bose stereo system.

From what i've researched so far, All B6's use the same head unit just a different amp (Bose Amp) and slightly better speakers.

I've also read that the head unit runs the front speakers and the BASE amp runs the rears and the sub.

The Bose Amp supposedly runs the fronts and center channel aswell as the rears.

Anyone interested in helping/done this before?

I found a couple schematics on audizine or audiworld but have to look for them again.

Yah all of those polarity tables are helpfull, buttt... what amp are they for?

I have a stock (standard) amp and theres also a bose amp which has different pin connections and stuff..
I think i'm going to physically remove my interior this weekned and do it

Considering the Bose is probably going to sound worse than anything you've ever heard, I don't really know why you'd want to do this

Get yourself a real component set from a decent aftermarket brand (Focal, CDT, Rainbow, Boston, eD; or even Infinity, JBL, Alpine, Polk would be fine); get an aftermarket amp to drive them and perhaps a sub and sub amp too if you want to/if your budget allows. It will sound 1000x better than Bose anything, and probably be cheaper and less hassle as well.

Does anybody have an opinion on the two systems? I'm getting a new car and wondering if its worth the Bose upgrade. I don't need audiophile quality, but I would like to get nice clarity and bass with good loudness.

Anybody have the specs on the Bose amps? Freq range, power etc?

I have no specific details on the Audi Bose systems. If it's anything like the Bose systems on the 300ZX's is not all that great. A modest upgrade using todays components will be of a much higher quality than a Bose upgrade. I wasn't at all impressed with the 300ZX Bose systems and it appears it's not gotten any better on the Audi either.
Just retaining the oem head unit for esthetic reasons and integrating a nice amp system and modest speaker replacements will yield some amazing results.
