Squeaky brake problem
Hello all,
I had a question regarding my 2011 S4. I have had it for about 2 months now and within the last couple of weeks my brakes have become quite loud when braking at low speeds. Can anyone advise on a fix or a reason? I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Squeaky brake problem
This is popping up more and more all over the internet for current model Audis. See one of my previous posts on this. Disregard most of what you hear on this subject – there are many people making definitive statements with very little knowledge of the subject matter (haha, pretty much the definition of the internet...). In short, bypass the dealer and just put on some better brake pads. As much as Audi buyers like to think that their cars are high end, they are far from it, and Audi seems to be exercising some poor supplier selection in the brake pad department lately.

i had same issue and did the whole song and dance at the Stealership. in the end i went to my buddies dealership he works at and got ceramics installed on the fronts and that was the end of the squealing. was awful in the winter. high metal content in performance brakes seem to cause it. i ended up with Hawks was the brand. install and front pads as all over $220 keeping in mind my buddies shop did it so was little cheaper.

You're bang on about the squealing - the higher performance a brake pad is, the more it will squeal when not up to temp (a generalization to be sure). For example, my pads are squealing like crazy now that Winter's – they're just too far out of their heat range when it's -20°C.

Re: Squeaky brake problem
My 2011 A5 just started squealing a bit when I am just about completely stopped. I was gonna ask the dealership about it, but I think I can see that will be a waste of time.
Guess it's just another reason to order a STaSIS brake kit for the spring!
