S4, S6 or Allroad ???

Re: S4, S6 or Allroad ???
Esoteric,
Having not had the opportunity to have an S6 Avant and an Allroad side by side, is there really much difference in the bodies? I though they were the same platform with minor mods to the shape? I do have to agree about the S4 Avant, it would be my choice if there were no practicality issues, we do have a new 7 passenger Highlander (wife's) for people moving and long haul towing, but we (the wife and I) don't share well. I like to have my car and she likes to have hers
Don't give up on the V8!!

Re: S4, S6 or Allroad ???
Sit back, get a bottle full of Prozac, this could be a long process. Not only am I willing to wait for the right car to come along, I'm also willing to wait for the right deal to come along. This will be the first car I've bought in a long time that I actually have some love for. Not that I don't love my SUbaru's, but two Foresters in a row, geeeze, I can only take so much fuel conservation. I need a 4.2!!
It's still the ago old battle of practicality though. I am in North Bay, I do drive the highways south a lot, winter and summer. So year round capability is important, as is ground clearance for snow'n'stuff. That and short haul tow are my two biggest concerns with the S's.
What I really want to know is what are the differences between the 300hp (Allroad) 4.2 and the 340hp (S model) 4.2 engines and transmissions. If it's just ECU or something easy like that, I think I'm sold on the Allroad. Bump up the HP, get the suspension mod, thanks Esoteric for that suggestion, and she's going to keep me a happy guy.
Hang on Mike, it's a bumpy ride.

Small world Mike, I'll get your brain working here, Gibby and I were the ones who hired JCI for that project. You've got three guesses, not 7... 3. And yes, I finally did jump ship, got a good offer and went.
