Default New S4 Owner!

Hey all,

I am the proud new owner of a 2000 B5 S4, Imola yellow.......my first Audi....

This car is completely stock, so my first question is, what are my must do engine mods? ie. best chip/tune/flash out there on the market for solid power, but decent reliability/low issues....I don't have to be the fastest out there, just faster than stock!

And rim ideas ppl? Besides RS4 reps, any other wheel ideas big amongst you Audiphiles?

Thanks!

start with a

-Boost gauge and chip (make sure you don't have any boost leaks).

-If you are mechanically able (personally i don't think it's worth paying a mech)...gut the pre-cats on your downpipes (piggies pipes).

-If you want a sportier note.. Throw on a catback, while you're working on the DP's.

-Upgraded suspension (coilovers would be a good idea, so you can gain clearance in the winter)

-Get a set of baller summer tims... 18" BBS CH or LM's look money on this car... but are def. played out.. Stay with stockers until you get a drop, rims don't look right without a drop.

-start save up.. this car can be a repair bill monster.... (1st and 2nd gear synchros, every sensor on this car, cv boots, turbos, etc.).. note that the labour alone to replace the turbos would be around 1-3k depending on the shop...

Enjoy the ride!

Thanks dude!

Lol, I don't think I'm gonna go THAT mod happy.......this is my winter/all-year car, after all ...

but I appreciate your enthusiasm for mods!

I'm just looking for a good tune (any brands specifically I should be looking at? I've heard of Giac and AFR.....any recommendations as to which is meant to be the "best"......overall quality I mean, and like I said, doesn't have to give the MOST power.....

Also, wondering about a drop-in filter of some kind, but I hear about the problems with K&N and the oil.....again, any recommendations for a solid non-oil filter?

I might consider changing the suspension to CO, but if I do, it'll be in the spring/summer.....

Thanks for the info though man, I appreciate it!

haha.. the mods listed are pretty basic

It starts getting serious when you go stage 3 and throw on bigger turbos, fueling, bigger intercoolers, a water/meth injection kit, and of course a custom tune... 400+ WHP ftw!
