Default New RS 4 Owner

Hello, just found this forum. I have an 08 Phantom Black RS4, a whole two weeks old now. I love the car, a total blast to drive.

Now my question. My car has 2100 kms on the odometer, not quite broken in yet. That said I did go to the track today and I was a little disappointed with my times on Sunday.

13.471 @ 103.22
13.412 @ 105.27
13.664 @ 104.60

The car feels much faster than the times would suggest. My last car was a custom built 396 CID single turbo LS1 that put 850 hp to the ground, so I am very familiar with what quick feels like

Does anyone have any track times to share? Perhaps my car is not broken in enough or my technique with an AWD simply sucks who knows but I just love the car and would like to have some comparo's to shoot for

Thanks

If i told you to launch off the rev limiter, i would hate myself

13's isnt horrible for a daily at that. Cant compare it to a 850 HP rwd car that has a solid axle and wont implode when launching

Got any pics ?

And sorry, no track times from me

Yeah, my old Firebird was sadistic, I could smoke the tire at highways speeds easilly. The car was great in a straight line but certainly not a competent corning car. BTW it was plated and street legal problem was it kept breaking

The Audi is a whole different breed of car, quick, capable and of course fit and finish are top notch.

I didn't expect 10 second passes, but given it's weight and power I would expect a high 12. I couldn't bring myself to launch off the limiter but I did think about it

I guess I may have to look for some mods to pick it up a bit. That said I'll try again but I hope I can get a little better

I'll get some picks up when I get it cleaned up

I am familiar with your old car actually and the name. It didn't dawn on my when i first replied to you.

Did you end up selling your old car ?

Whats your 60 foot in the audi ? Likely good but again, you probably aren't launching off the rev limiter.

I finally got fed up breaking the old car and did sell it to a guy in South Carolina. Unfortunately it ended up burning to the ground in a fire, on second thought maybe not such a bad thing

What octane rated fuel were you running and what was the ambient temperature at the track ?

91 Shell octane about 75 degrees and right out of the box. I launched at about 3500 rpm and eased out of the throttle. The car only had 3500 kms on it at the time and I'm used to rear drive not AWD

The passes were fun not bonzai.

BTW, does the RS 4 have torque management? I notice that around 3800 rpm, if you punch it there is a hesitation before the car get moving. It feels odd but seems to consistent in each gear

You could try a slightly higher octane fuel, say 92 to 94. Most agree octane boost additives are not recommended. Trick is to run the tank almost empty, fill with higher octane and drive for a while to let ECU adjust.

Does the new RS4 have Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) button or equivalent on the dash? When tracking, you could try turning ESP off. Otherwise if there is any wheel spin, ESP will be tapping the brake(s) on the slipping wheel(s).

hey i remember your old car... what made you get an RS4? Judging by your old car thought you would get a CTS-V or something...
