Exclamation Closing in on '05 S4 purchase...LOOKING FOR ADVICE!

Hi All,

Pretty new to the forum, but I am actively closing in on my first Audi purchase, a 2005 S4. I've done quite a bit of reading on this car and can't seem to find any complaints, other than the gas mileage...what does one expect out of a V8

That said, I am hoping to gather some input on what folks around here feel I should watch out for? Also, want to know what you think of the deal I am working on. Here are some details. Looking fwd to your replies and feedback!

2005 Audi S4
82,000 km's
AWE cat back exhaust
Winter rims and tires
New summers
Safety and E-test included
Price: $27K

If you are in the Hamilton area on Tuesday June 1st, at 7 pm we are having a gathering of Audi owners. You can come and ask questions and I am sure you will get plenty of comments and you get to see some of the other cars, owners and what they have done to them. If you need info just PM me

There are some good deals south of the border. I just picked up an '04 S4 Nogaro Blue on black with Nogaro inserts, 6 speed, every option including RNS-E nav, 60k miles with clean carfax for $16k.

I recommend having an Audi dealer do a pre-purchase inspection, which cost me $200.

WoW! Congrats, that does indeed sound like an amazing deal.

If I do go ahead and purchase the one I am looking at, I will book an apt to have the Audi pre-purchse inspection done.

Thanks!

P.S. Do you mind sharing with me who you purchased from south of the border? Was it private or dealer?

The car was a trade in at a Toyota dealer. The first Audi dealer I called about the inspection would not do it because they said they would be liable if they gave the car a clean bill of health and anything was wrong. The one I ended up using was fantastic. They found a small crack in the coolant bottle that wasn't leaking yet and some switch (no clue what it was) that was faulty. They talked to the Toyota dealer and everything was replaced at no cost to me. The $200 inspection ended up saving me $500! I highly recommend Rector Porsche Audi if you are considering a car in the San Francisco area.

Good luck!

Check out New & Used Cars for Sale, Auto Dealers, Car Reviews and Car Finance Advice for whats available south of the border. I picked up a 2007 S4 Avant in 2007 and ended up selling it for more than I paid, just under 2 years later ! One of the benefits of getting a CDN car from a CDN Audi dealer which IMO is worth considering is the CPO warranty ...

Good luck !

A Nogaro Blue S4 in Oakville? I've never seen it...where you hiding!

I'm a Light Silver B7 S4 also in Oakville.

Power, lots of power !!! But watch out, it doesn't turn.

I tracked mine last year since it was new to me and compared to my TT, it doesn't turn. I would need to upgrade the front suspension to get it right but i won't spend the money.

On the street, it's a blast. Especially in this situation :
- Kid in a 1996 Honda Civic
- Ananas launcher exhausts
- All kind of gages on the A pillar (he must be often late to have that many clocks)
- Right lane at the red light (and you KNOW he's not turning right)
- Bonus but not necessary : wet pavement

PRICELESS

Update: Well, I did it, bought the S4 I was inquiring about above. The test drive was the first time I had seen one up close. At first glance this was not what I was expecting at all, I was very impressed. The test drive sold me on it. I am enjoying her now and look forward to the many years ahead

Thank you guys for the advice and feedback!
