Hey Guys,

I need some help here.

My TTS needs a new companion since the lease is coming up on my Volvo XC90. It needs to be an avant and I would like it to be 6MT. I considered the B8 A4, but it hasn't convinced me yet. (If only S Line on the avant was available in Canada!) I can't seem to find the right B7 A4 either. Titanium package and S Line would be my preference.

I have two options at my local dealership.

07 S4 Avant - Red on black alcantara - 33K kms/21K miles - Loaded (except NAV)
Bit of peppering on the paint up front. Sounds like it can be touched up if I want to add stone guard. Feels like it was driven pretty softly and needs to be "re-broken in."

07 S4 Avant - Sprint blue on silver alcantara - 19K kms/12K miles - Base plus NAV
No chips or scratches anywhere. Dealer is talking about moving the phone prep to this car from the red car if it's possible. Last 6500 kms/4K miles were put on by sales manager as his personal demo.

I'm looking for opinions, rants or whatever. Also, anything in particular I should be looking for on these cars would also help!

Or are there any other cars out there for sale? Again, B7 Avant/6MT is what I am looking for.

It's a tough choice.

I was actually by there today looking for a trunk liner but the parts center was closed.

Saw the red one out back for the first time.

Personally I like the look of the red one, as I'm not a fan of the silver alcantara interior. But it needs atleast 10% tint to make it look right and hopefully the touchup isn't too much work.

I did take the blue one for a spin a few months back and it was a great ride. It was just really dirty on the inside, coffee spills, child seats, spilt food, etc(assume the sales manager was driving it then too).

I guess it would depend on price for the two of them, but if marked at the same price I'd take the red on black hands down.


Your other option would be to buy mine 08 A4 Avant S-line and I'll go buy the red one.

I was admiring a silver S Line avant pulling through the lot so I'm sure I saw you. Did you have a passenger with you? I was sitting in my TTS on the north side of the parking lot along the fence answering texts. My TTS twin (that was recently bought back by the dealership) was parked on the south side along the building.

They bought the red S4 avant from an auction "for me" a week and a half ago. It hasn't been completely made ready for sale yet so it really hasn't been out on the lot. It drives great, but feels like it was "mothered" a bit. I would definitely tint it. If I opted for red it would likely see some darker summer wheels and maybe the all-black titanium package RS4 grill.

I'm also not super big on the silver interior on the blue S4 avant. That was the only thing holding me back from buying it the first time I saw it. Funny thing, I mentioned to the sales manager what you said about the dirty interior last time we talked about this car. The interior has been kept a lot cleaner since! LOL!

If your car was a manual and had the titanium package, I would definitely consider it!

Probably wasn't me, I was by myself, there around noon, didn't notice a TTS either.
I'm kind of regretting getting the tiptronic but I had to as I was in a leg cast(5 months total) when I got the car. The next car will definitely be a S4 avant, just a matter of when.

Also good to hear that the sprint blue has been kept a lot cleaner as it was terrible when I took it out.

Would a "mothered" S4 not be nearly a perfect car? I would rather a babied car then one that was driven hard.

If you don't mind me asking, what are they asking for the red one.

They wanted $53k for the blue one when I took it out but that was before things took a huge down turn.

And the winner is...

BRILLIANT RED!

Upon closer inspection the blue car had quite a few more marks in the paint all around and looked like the front bumper had been painted. Overall the red one is in better shape.

I should have the car later this week. Tinting will happen right away but any other mods will wait until spring!

Gotta find someone to take over mine before I move on to an S4 other wise I'll be paying out the *** to get out of my lease early.
