Out of curiosity, does anyone know the story about the emblems, and how to distinguish them? Front and Back?

I've heard the early S4's had the classic 2 small chrome lines with the S4 engraved into it with a red badge beside it and then in 2001 they changed to the style that they have now.

I don't know if that is in fact true concidering my current S4 is now the second 2002 S4 I've owned. The first I lost in an unfortunate accident (rear ended - wrote the car off). The first had the old style on the front and the new style on the back. The one I have now has the old style S4 emblem on the trunk lip and the newer style logo on the grill. This seemed odd to me? Was it an option for emblem placement/style in 02?

From what ure saying maybe the trunk was swapped. But u should have both rear and front with the same logos.

Thanks for the reply. I don't believe that the trunk was swapped as both were old lease vehicles from Vancouver audi dealerships w/ no accidents. Odd that the front of my 1st 02 had the 99-01 version on the front and the 01.5 on the back; and now my 2nd 02 has the newer badge on the front and the old style on the trunk. Either way, it still hauls ***.

Im sure it does It might have been a very limited run of cars in canada that transitioned from one badge to the other and they figured its easier to change the badge in the front (no holes left ?) then it is in the back. post some pics of your beast !
