2004 S4 rumble noise on start up
Car has 135,000 kms...engine and clutch were replaced at 65k...car makes a weird clunk/rumble noise on start up...not all the time...sounds like it has something to do with the clutch...anyone have similar experience? Any input will be appreciated!! Thanks.

If it's more like a "rattle" it's apparently a normal noise.

it could also be chain tensioners...which are grounds for shitting a brick but is usually nothing. Our engine is driven by timing chains, not a timing belt.

If your running a lighter weight oil compared to what Audi says should be used then try the OEM weight. Thin oiling on the 4.2's can be misdiagnosed as chains / chain guides / faulty cam adjusters / etc all of which require an expensive engine pull if true.
