Must be a US thing, I've never heard of BMW/Audi/Merc combining leather
with plastic in the UK/Euroland. Closest thing I've ever come across
is the "half-leather", which is leather combined with a velor trim on
the seat base and back (so your bum & back don't get sweaty!) - a
personal favourite as I'm not a fan of leather seats in cars. But
I've definitely not a faux-leather mix over here, which is probably
why some of us don't get the question!

Can't stand leather seats, though I'll admit they're great when you've
got kids. The wife's Maestro had 'em and clearing up was /much/ easier
than with cloth.

LOL - I know what you mean! We've got a 13 month old - all I can say
is that I'm glad we've got a leather sofa!!
Anyone know what you can protect fabric/velor car seats with? Is
there some sort of Scotch Guard product for cars?

Re: Do I have Leather
OK, this isn't a surefire answer, but at least it isn't a "smart-***"
answer. On my 02 A6 the seats are leather, but the side of the
headrest and center storage cover are leatherette. they have a
different feel. Also, leather has a tendency to give after a couple
of years, where the plastic doesn't. Real leather gets softer...
Either way take comfort in the fact that you can't even ask that
question with a BMW three...it would just be plastic.
