Re: Corvette preparing to pass an Audi?
Yep it was a garage queen, <13,000 miles , was sold as a chassis by
"Audi" and is the only known survivor out of 145 believed to be
produced. So your point would be?
From article
"since it has only covered a total of 19,000 kilometres according to the
odometer reading.
The car has now been restored to its former splendour, but Audi
Tradition does not intend for the moment to display it in the Audi
museum mobile in Ingolstadt. Thomas Frank, Head of Audi Tradition: “The
Audi Imperator will initially be reserved for use on special company
occasions.” "

Re: Corvette losing to an Audi?
Come on guys; take a look at the way the Vette stalls out of the
lights. This junior bracket racer was sitting at the light with his
tranny in third gear. By the time he down shifted, the Audi was so far
out front and had built up a good lead. Get a guy behind the wheel of
the Vette who can nail a light (and be in first) and the Audi is
history. Hey, I hear Pedregon is looking for a ride! But nah! He'd
never be able to handle a Vette…

<< Get a guy behind the wheel of

The standard C5, with a 0-60 time of around 4.7 seconds couldn't ever hope to
keep up with an RS6. The Z06 has a theoretically lower 0-60 time than the RS6
(by .02 of a second) but getting that kind of time out of it would demand
professional skill and 2 or 3 of those runs would all but destroy the clutch.
The old 2000 Turbo Quattro was faster than any C4 Vette' when it came out, in
fact, it was even faster than some Ferraris of the era. At 5.2 seconds to 60
from a standstill, the S4 is nearly as fast as a C5 and far more useable. I
venture to say that in bad weather and/or in the dry around a tight road, the
S4 could give a C5 a good run.

Next time keep your thread & personal taste in the Audi newsgroup only, as
we keep ours in the Corvette group only. I own a Corvette that I prefer &
will always prefer over any Audi or else I would have done the big mistake
on buying an Audi.

Ahem. As Dave pointed out, /you/ posted in the Audi group first (after all,
he couldn't exactly reply from here if you hadn't)
Easy mistake to make, and hopefully the end of this forlorn thread..?

LOL. Who hired you to be a USENET sheriff?
"We"? Multiple personality disorder, or pretending to speak for
anyone but yourself?
Here's a free clue - learn how to use your newsreader. If that's too
difficult, maybe just avoid reading threads that you aren't interested
in. If you are happy driving your tupperware, that's great. I'm sure
the mullet crowd is quite envious.
Those of us who drive cars made of metal? I suspect that most of us
just ignore your type of automotive extenders.

Re: Corvette losing to an Audi?
A nice compliment to the radio, which has a deck sourced from a late 1990s
Pontiac.
Don't see too many Vette's having their sourced 1990 Pontiac radios replaced
as the amount of Audi owners have their factory radios replaced, Gotta be a
good reason for that.
How about the 1998 C5s with interiors that are already cracking, ripping,
and changing color because of the cheap leather and vinyl GM stuck inside
them.
Well, although I haven't seen too many of these cases, I guess GM refuses to
use cement leather material as Europeans use that results in back pains
after a couple of driving hours.
GM's "special" edition Grand Sport from only a year later can be had for
under $20k now
You have no idea what a Grand Sport is. Remember what I said, the 95 S6 will
be at the junk yard one day. I supose it will still be worth more than the
95 Vette still in circulation???,,,Ya Right.....

Re: Corvette losing to an Audi?
Yes, hopefully this will be the end of this forlorn thread, but I am glad to
have learned that the Z06 is a faster car than the RS6. Performance was the
main issue here.
