AC error code, A6 1996
Hi
On my old A6 2,6 1996 the AC gives me to errors (and NO cooling)
On the AC ECU display I can read out an error 15.7 which means that "Air
Flow Flap Motor V71" has been sporadic blocked and I also can read an error
(in channel 52) saying "A/C Refrigerant Low Pressure Switch - F73"
With a VAG-tester I can read out error 1274 which is the Flap Motor error (I
dont read erro r802 which should be the Low Pressure Switch, but this could
be due to a malfunction in my home-build tester !!!. I can reset the
1274-error and then the ECU display only says one error - the "A/C
Refrigerant Low Pressure Switch - F73"
After a couple of days the "Flap Motor" error is back again. This error could
have been there for a long time because I have never before diagnosed the AC
and it has been working including cooling for last 2½ years without any
problems until last weekend (
1) I'm more or less sure that the the fluid is gone - because the system
does not want to start the compressor - this corresponds with the "A/C
Refrigerant Low Pressure Switch - F73" error. Next week I'll have the system
loaded with Refrigerant - and maybe its then ok or there is a leakage some
were.
2) What does this "Air Flap" do? (its not mounted on US/Canada cars
according to what I can read!!). Were is it located ?
Best regards
Jens

Is this full climate control or just an AC button?
If climate then I would assume that the air flap is one of the flaps that
controls the flow of air to feet, face or screen

Yes it's full climate.
I dont think its one of those flaps as they would also be present in an Audi
made for USA/Canada - and the information I can find on the internet tells
me that this V71 Flap Motor is NOT present in cars for USA/Canada.

Just a guess.
This is likely to be the flap actuator located on the passenger (US) up
on the side of the air box just in front of the center console. You can
get to it by removing the glove box. It might just be the electrical
plug is not connected.
At lease this is a common problem with A4s.
System pressure switch error:
If the system needs a recharge you will need to get that done along with
finding the source of the leak. OTOH, you might be lucky and find that
the error is in the system pressure switch itself.
