2002 A4, Fuel Pump failig or something else?
Hi everybody.
I have a problem with my 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro. Wondering if someone had same experience or knows more about this issue.
My fuel pump started making buzzing noise this winter which would indicate time for replacement. Except it starts making that noise only when temperature hits freezing mark. Engine does not experience fuel starvation or any other problems. The colder it is the louder noise is, but as soon as temperature goes above 0 deg. the noise is gone. I am a little confused because I am not sure if pump is faulty at all.
Also I looked for new one to buy and noticed that you can buy pump and level sending unit separate. Generally my level sending unit works fine for most of the time. Every once in a while my fuel gauge would go crazy but I correct that by resetting instrument cluster by pulling fuse out.
I guess what my question is... can someone point me to the right direction regarding what real culprit is? Pump, sending unit, something else? Of course there is an option to replace both and get done with it and that's what I am going to do. But before I do that I would really like to know what is going on in there and not replace something I don't have to.
Thanks for your help.
