Newbie A3 2.0 TDI 2013
Hello,
I'm a new Audi owner and I'm really excited about the new car. I was a bit apprehensive because it's desiel but from what I've read the TDI is the way to go.
Anyway any suggestions? Anything I should know as a newbie?
I was a bit alarmed that the Navi doesn't allow for Bluetooth media streaming. It does phone stuff but no audio? Crazy.
I read I can get an adapter but I'm wondering if there's a software update instead. Any ideas?
Thanks!

There is an on-going issue with dieselgate, which I'm sure you've read about. So I'm a little surprised that you were able to buy one with the hoopla going on.
But aside from that, I don't think you'll have any issues with the A3 TDI. It's a great car from the people I've spoken with who have it.
For now you car is still road legal/worthy and will give you plenty of kms using very little fuel.
Audi did something I'm sure they regret regarding smartphone connectivity. The only allowed for their proprietary cables to be used. That's since been changed. I don't have personal experience with your car, but it was the same sentiments I heard from the people I talked to.
Good luck with finding a work-a-round and I hope you enjoy your TDI for a long time.

Maybe this is why I consider what a paid a "deal".
Is there a good uptodate site about this and possible repercussions?
Thanks for all your feedback!

IMO I don't see any harm with the "issues" that being raised. The Takata airbag issue is a bigger deal for me.
When VAG has their fixes approved (depending on where you are), it will likely be a small hit on fuel efficiency but no one knows until they start with the recall.
For more info, I'd just do a google search for VW diesel issue or dieselgate.
I am not one of those who's lost confidence in the VAG products. At this time, I'm even considering getting the A3 E tron.
Every manufacturer has issues. In terms of importance, I think everyone will rank this differently.
