Newbie Query On 2016 A6 (4G)
Hi,
I've just been lucky enough to take delivery of a brand new A6 (4G) and have so far been very impressed - as has my family!
However, I do have a few niggles with the car, more to do with the software / firmware really, and was hoping that I might be able to get some guidance or pointers that might help me.
1) The start / stop feature defaults to being on for every new trip. I know that you can turn it off at the press of a button, but being from an older generation where if you didn't hear the car humming you'd broken down, I don't like this feature and keep having to turn it off every trip. Is there a way around this ? Can I default it to off ?
2) The in-car software (is it called MMI ?) is OK, but what's really annoying is that rotating the **** anti-clockwise scrolls down the lists and clockwise up the lists. Just about every other interface that I've used which uses a rotation to scroll up and down lists works the opposite way (and I'm old and stuck in my ways) so I find this really irritating! Can this be reversed to work the other way (anti-clockwise scrolls up the list)
3) I maybe older now, but I'm still a bit of an audiophile, and like a bit of bass as much as the next person (I think) but there is so much bass that even with it turned completely down it still sounds a bit heavy on the bass. I wonder if this is also controlled via the software, maybe through a DSP, and if so is there any way to tweak this ?
4) The Sat Nav software is a bit clunky, slow and the map graphics poor - is there a way to update to a newer better version ? Or should I simply keep using my android phone as a far superior Sat Nav (seems a bit of a shame having to have my phone mounted on my windscreen right above the popup central display). Also paying £200+ a pop for map updates (please correct me if I'm wrong) seems like daylight robbery!
5) As I go down this list, I get more and more doubtful that there is any answer or anything I can do - so this one is my most hopeless - but I thought it was worth chancing my arm and asking anyway as I'm in the flow... Is there any way that I can get hold of the software API to actually write / modify the software myself ? I've been a professional software engineer for over 20 years now, so would be extremely interested in doing some work in this area.
Anyway, apologies for the long post - if you managed to get this far
Thanks for your time
