Shifting Problems
Hey Guys, have a bit of a sudden problem that I need some help with (2004 A6 Tiptronic). I was doing some running around town and went to park and could not engage that Park Gear (actually could not move past the Neutral Gear). So I started to trouble shoot.
- When I went to push the button on the shift **** to engage, the shifter would not go past R to engage the Park. My foot was on the brake. Also noticed the the button remain in the 'depressed' position and did not spring out.
- I could move the shifter from D to N and into the tiptronic gears, but not into S.
- I cannot remove the key (cause it is not in P, I assume)
I read the TCM problem thread, but I do not think this is the problem because
- the PRNDS were not flashing
- No Check engine light
- The car ran beautifully (like always) as I put everything on hold, so the 'limp mode' was not engaged.
I am going to take it in to have it repaired (unless it is a real EASY fix), but it is always good to know what you are up against before taking it in. Would appreciate any help.
