Replacing the Instrument Cluster??

Replacing the Instrument Cluster??
I bought a 2004 Audi A6 3.0 Quattro in Texas and brought it back to Canada.
Everything has worked out great except that my right signal indicator light in the instrument cluster has burnt out. I took it to the dealer who said to replace the indicator light meant to replace the entire gauge cluster costing about $3500.
I see on ebay you can buy a cluster for about 200 give or take.
Does anyone know if this is a job I can do myself or does the dealer have to do this service?

In answer to your question, how can you know that the eBay cluster does not have issues as well? Is the light that important? Replacing the cluster is something that is achievable if you're good with, and have, the tools/resources.

Google: pixelfix, Mississauga Canada company. they offer exchange for metric for around $600.00.
I have seen write ups on the audi forums for removing the cluster, complicated but do able.
I would consider it above my comfort level but each to his own
Definitely not $3000.00
Alex.

Re: Replacing the Instrument Cluster??
You have 2 things you can do I changed mine and the wife's too and both work fine.
1. If you change yours with the one from eBay, it will work fine but, when you want to sell your car you will have a huge price issue drop as the mileages won't be accurate unless you don't say anything about it or get the same mileages.
2. You can buy a broken one and change the light yourself and call it a day.
Bottom line you CAN use the eBay stuff. I know someone here in the US who disassemble Audi's and sell their parts on eBay might sell it to you for less than $ 200 and get you the best matching mileage possible.
Good luck
