Default Newbie looking at 2007 3.1L A6 Avant

With the expanding family, i need more space. Never owned an audi but there are several in the family and i always enjoyed them.

Found a 70K KM audi a6 avant 2007. Before pulling the trigger, i have a couple of questions.

1) Its a certified vehicle bought from an Audi dealer. Are they scrupulous ? IE, should i have the mechanic re-checked by another audi specialist ? I found a couple of issues that were not mentioned in their 300 point inspection.

2) At what point do you need to change the brakes (is 60% still good or does it mean new brakes in 1 month)

3) People in the forum seem to mention a carbon issue. How can i check the car is okay for this ?

4) Any other tips ?

Thanks !!!

Good choice! I drive a 2006 A6 Avant and I love it. I don't understand why there are no more Avants in Canada, taking into account that Audi sells in Europe more Avants than Sedans (61% - 39%).

The 300 point inspection is a good starting point, but I would check it myself.

No idea, but at 60% you still have plenty of kms ahead of you before you have to change them.

Sometimes when you turn it on it takes a while to start the engine. If there is a lot of carbon build up, you will get the engine check light in the dashboard.

You can clean it in the Audi dealership for less than $200, or do what I did. Use only Shell gas (no ethanol, great additives) and drive it like you stole it Rev it hard when the engine is warm and the carbon will disappear.

4) Any other tips ?

Enjoy it, get a VAGCOM cable to activate a couple of hidden features and don't forget to update the firmware to the latest version and the navigation DVD.
