Default Engine foaming 3.2 2008 A6

HAs anyone heard of this? My mechanic in town recommended talking to my Audi dealership about this to clean out the valves. He claims that this has been an issue with these engines and Audi has a 3 step engine foaming process to cure a rough running engine. Car runs a little rough on start but seems to be better after it runs for a while. Had someone follow me the other day and observe what happens after I "step on it." He said a little smoke was noted. Have 98,000 kms on it.

Yes, have heard of this process.
If you google "Sea Foam", "Audi" and "carbon buildup" etc you find all sorts of discussions.
Unsure how effective it is though.
If you try it keep us posted...

Cheers.

Ive tried the Seafoam on my 08 4.2 - Worked quite well but you HAVE to make sure you get lots in it and it sits for a decent amount of time. I would recommend taking off the MAF if you plan to do it though, or trying to spray behind it. Those things are expensive.

Also - DO NOT I repeat DO NOT put it in the crankcase - my indy said that it works, but it works TOO well - and can cause clogs in the smaller ports in the engine because of all the gunk it frees up.

P.P.Also - Make sure you change your plugs after or at least give them a good brush - the Seafoam can foul the plugs.
