what to know
Hi guys, new to the site and looking at buying a 2000 A6 Quattro AWD, it's auto with 144k km's, full load, not sure if it's a tip? It has the 4.2L V8 engine and I'm just curious if there's anything I should be aware of with this model? Should I be asking any certain questions before purchasing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Asking price is $13,900 canadian.

Re: what to know
Ive seen 2001s cheaper than that, maybe they are priced higher in Alberta. You may want to check what packages it has. I find ESP and sport package very handy, but I dont think Ive seen it in a 2000. You may also have to do the timing belt, seals and water pump, so you might have to spend even more cashola.................

Re: what to know
Service records are very important! Make sure it has had all the necessary services - T/B, W/P, cam seals, etc... Not too sure if the 4.2 has the same issue as other A6s regarding the front end - if the front end creaks the control arms may need replacing - its the bushings that make the noise but the whole arm needs to be replaced! A bit high on price and the auto will be tiptronic. If well maintained and they can prove it the car will be pretty solid for a long time to come! Check CV boots - another issue!
