Cool Transmission problems?

Well my 2000 Audi A6 4.2 is slow to aclerate, and also stuttering/skipping. The next day I put the car in the repair shop, not dealer. I advised them of my problem and I asked them to replace spark plugs. They replace the spark plugs but the car is still doing the same thing. So I asked the tech to drive the vehilcle, so he comes back and says that it may be low on transmission fluid because the clutch is slipping. They will be checking the fluid level today. I forgot to mention the car is an automatic....ANy Ideas?????

ANy Ideas?????

How long have you own the car?
What is the mileage?
What repair shop is the car in?
These cars cave number of computers that would tell you the truth about the car.
Reading is with VAG scaners...
I see no codes submitted by you, assume there are none read.
The shop does not seem to have readers at hand - in that case the car is black box for them.
I'd fear somebody's intervention in the transmission area based on general knowledge only.
ATF type, level - VAG knowledge and tools are required.
Hope no further damages are inflicted!

I have had this car for a year now. The milage is at 176k. Eurowise is the name of the shop it was is in, however, since then I have taken it to a transmission shop. AAmco Transmission says that the clutch is slipping very badly and when the computer finally reads it, it locks the transmission in 3rd gear, but the trans never hit 1st or 2nd. They are saying it needs to have a rebuild, $2400 at the least and $3000 at the max. I will remove evrything thats aftermarket and I will cut my losses with this car.

Is it the Tiptronic internal clutch packs that are slipping or is it the Torque Converter that is slipping?

Neither are cheap but it's much less expensive to replace a Torque Converter vs rebuilding the transmission.

Fluid level should be verified as low fluid (typically caused by a leaking seal) will definitely cause the trans to behave strangely.

Hoping it's not the worst case for you and Good Luck!

Still no indication on DTC!? – Crystal ball diagnostics?
What is the transmission model?
$3000 for rebuilding that transmission -5HP24 FLA (assuming complete parts and labor) is something that one should optimistically consider. A new (rebuild) transmission (+labor) costs more than the value of your car.
I second the ATF level as a starting point.
The ATF gets evaporated – as any liquid =>the level drops.
Get a Vag-Com and do your own tests and diagnostics.
