Trailering with my Avant
Hey guys,
I know that Trailering boats with this car will not be a problem but, I was wondering who I should get to install the hitch and wiring. I live in the Cambridge area.
I also wonder if I should replace the the rear springs for something newer and perhaps refesher and if I should add a trans cooler. My car has over 140K on it and it looks like all the rear suspension is original.
Any advice would be welcome. I want to do this right.

I would leave the rear springs unless you're hauling something very heavy and/or with a lot of tongue weight. I would most definitely recommend a heavy duty transmission cooler though. Heat kills trannies and Quattro transmissions are not cheap. You probably have the 5HP19FLA or 5HP24FLA transmission, either of which are very complicated ZF units.

Re: Trailering with my Avant
So I got the hitch down at my Transmission guy because I also have an external cooler attached the wiring was a real pain and even Curt (the manufacturer of the hitch) hadn't done a 2001 C5 before so we had to explain the wiring and finally we found the right adaptor for the wiring harness. It looks good and works. I can't wait to start towing my boat with it. Lake Ontario here we come.
